I am SO VERY EXCITED!!! I received notice this weekend that I was chosen for the Sketches! {by Tamara} Layout Design Team... YIPPEE!!!!
I've LOVED this blog for a long time, and now to get to work with Tamara and all the other fabulously talented Design Team members is gonna be WAY COOL. I've already received my first sketch to work with, and it will be posted NEXT Monday along with the other DT's work as well... so fun!!

ScrapFest, Here We Come...

Well, as of EARLY tomorrow morning that is, hehehe. New Orleans HERE WE COME... can you say EXCITEMENT OVERLOAD????

Andie and I have made so many lists, and spent so much time on the phone with each other, making sure we don't forget a thing!!

We are leaving early tomorrow morning, and heading back home Sunday, so I will be MIA for a bit... getting my SCRAP ON!!!

And I'm sooooo looking forward to meeting my good buddies in person, Wendi and Angele. I've know these ladies for a long time, via the internet, it really does feel like we've been lifelong friends. We will have TONS of fun pics to share I'm sure!!!

1. I am 33 years old and am a full-time stepmother to 2 teenagers (Chelsea - 17, Josh - 15). Been with them for the past 10 years.

2. I have 8 tattoos on my body, and 2 cartilage piercings in my upper left ear.

3. LOVE Cocker Spaniels, and have always owned at LEAST one since I was a child. They are so sweet and cuddly!!

4. My brother and I are like night & day, seriously, way different... but we get along really great!! We have such good times together, kinda like best friends!!

5. My husband's hobby is a Classic Rock band that he is manager, lead singer and backup guitarist for. He plays almost every weekend night, which gives me lots of scrappy time on the weekends.

6. I would LOVE to finish college one day, and WILL!! I have a year and a half done already.

7. I played basketball for 8 years throughout school, and was actually pretty good at it.

ScrapFest ~ Almost That Time!!!


I am SO VERY EXCITED!!!

I will be attending my VERY FIRST weekend crop next weekend with my bestest buddy Andie...WOO-HOO, Thursday, 9/25, thru Sunday, 9/28.

We will be road-tripping it from Houston, TX to Mandeville, LA (approximately 6 hour drive) to attend the annual ScrapFest Crop. Kinda nervous as I've never been to one, just stressing a lot over what to take. I've been mainly putting together page kits with coordinating goodies in each bag, this way I won't feel like I need to take EVERYTHING I own. I plan on finishing up with packing my crop bag this weekend!!

What makes it EVEN better, is that I will FINALLY get to meet a couple of my very good, online scrappy buddies... Wendi and Angele from Scrap Attack... CAN'T WAIT!! I feel as if I've known these ladies forever. It will be SO FUN to get to hang out and scrap with them in person!!

Hurricane Scrapping and Card Sketch a Day Blog

Yep, you read that right... I actually scrapped while Hurricane Ike was going on, and even scrapped by candlelight and a flashlight that I hung above my table (we had no power for days)... how crazy is that?!?!?!

I didn't get much scrap time, but did manage to get a few cards and a rolodex card done!!

The cards I made using sketches from the ~Card Sketch a Day~ Blog, which I came across recently. Super fun card sketches!!!

This rolodex card was made for one of Wendi's Rolodex Card Challenges over at Scrap Attack... such fun little projects!! For this one, we had to use a sentiment bubble on our card.

Hurricane Ike Update & Getting Back to Normal

Morning everyone!! Thought I would update after Hurricane Ike. We are very lucky and had no house damage, just downed fences and trees, TONS of debris to clean-up, YUCK!! Oh, and no power for 4 days totally sucked too, but we got it back finally. Starting to stress about food and gas, as there are TONS of gas stations that are out (due to supply and/or power issues), and lots of stores still closed due to no power. The stores that ARE open are majorly wiped out and you can hardly find a thing!!

Some of you may know that my parent's live half the time at their property in Crystal Beach, TX, which was devastated by the Hurricane. We got word that the Coast Guard was gonna let my dad in to Crystal Beach by boat (the only way to the area now) yesterday to check out the damage... waiting for a call to see IF they have anything left.

My dad and uncle also drove to Anahuac, TX yesterday to check on their big hunting lodge (his winter income), ALL the buildings are completely gone down to the slab.

They're making due with what they have in Baytown at the moment. Still no power, and they are being told up to a month until it's all restored.

I'm just very thankful for all of the prayers everyone has sent our way recently, they really do work. I can't say it enough, we are so very lucky!!

And OH I can't wait for some scrappy time... although I did make a few cards on Saturday by candlelight, hehe!!

Just wanted to update everyone as I've gotten several emails and posts asking. So glad to finally be getting back to normal. Thanks to everyone for your kind words and concern, it really means a lot!!

Hurricane Ike is Coming... ACCKKK!!

Looks like it's Houston / Galveston's turn for a hurricane... Ike will be making landfall within the next 12 - 18 hours... lovely!!

Been crazy busy around here trying to prepare. Too late for us to board up at the house, as it's near impossible to get plywood now. Home Depot's line JUST for plywood, went all the way out the parking lot, down the street, and around a corner, and THOSE people were waiting for a new shipment because they had already ran out!! I guess we just hope that our windows hold up!!

Way stressed here, but we're trudging along. Also trying to prepare for being without power for who knows how long... hoping it won't be days!! If you don't see me posting for a few days, then you know why.

I'm actually considering scrapping by candlelight this weekend, hehe, what else do I have to do??

Ever Wondered Where Old Telephones Go????

I just had to share this... got this in an email from a friend and thought it was the COOLEST thing. Every one of these sheep is made from telephones and cords . . check out their feet!!!

Can't believe another work week is here already, UGH!! Seems like the weekend FLEW by!!

I had a lot of fun this weekend though with my mom. She came to Houston and stayed the night with me... kind of like a girls night. We did tons of fun decorating things around my house that I've been wanting to do. Hung some fun stuff, put together an awesome wooden bunk bed in Josh's room (full size on bottom, twin up top), just lots of fun stuff. My house is looking GOOD if I do say so myself.

Just a quick blog post this morning. At work already and wondering when the day is gonna end already... acckk!! We're on a four 10-hour day schedule this week, so Friday off for me, WOO-HOO!!!

I will post later with some recent pages I made using my September Design Team goodies from Scrap Attack. It's my last month on the team there, and I am WAY sad. :o(

Some good TV tonight, and I'm hoping to scrap while I watch Gossip Girl!!!

On to another topic... the Twilight Book Series... OH MY!!! I am TOTALLY hooked on these books!! I've recently finished books 2 (NEW MOON) & 3 (ECLIPSE), and book 4 (BREAKING DAWN) should be arriving ANY day now!!!

TOTALLY can't wait for the movie!!!!
